'skins and reveals'

multi media wall pieces

'skins and reveals' is a triptych of three abstract fine-art wall pieces in which i apply new techniques and materials to weavings around recycled canvasses. Intricate and often delicate, these pieces show much detail and texture. They incorporate raw wool fleeces, tree bark, hand spun nettle fibre, feathers, fish leather, paper, batik silks, yarns, rags, paints and oil chalks.

The theme for this series has its origin in the dialogue with the concept of ‘skin’: how do we cover, cloak, protect and hide, - what is revealed when this outer layer opens, splits and rips?
